Sonos Update - New Desktop Controller updated !:
Its been a long time coming but finally the old Sonos Desktop Controller has had an update. Its more like the iPad app version but better, with more drag and drop as well as a great new mini player. If you are a current Sonos user, UPDATE now, its free.

Napster is Changing !:
Napster, which is a fantastic option for all Sonos users, is merging with Rhapsody.
Napster will also be discontinuing MP3 downloads in the UK after relaunching the service, which is currently anticipated to occur mid-March 2012. As far as using the Napster service with Sonos goes, there will be improved performance and streaming quality (Same as Spotify) and an improved user experience which is already better than Spotify, in our opinion.
The iOS and Andriod app will be getting upgraded too.

Napster Bigger and Better:
Late April Napster released the final fix. Sonos released an update to their software, version 3.4. The upside was that all 'full users' were fixed and better than ever with very fast searching etc. The downside was that people we spoke to who had the trial version of Napster had trouble. It seemed as though Napster now run two concurrent systems, one for subscribers and one for trial users. Play lists were failing because they were not authenticated. Sonos is looking into it.

New Android App:
Sonos finally the new application for android users like the new Motorola Xoom. This was a welcome free update, although we use Apple and use the iPad with the sonos controller App which works great.

Napster Struggles:
During the Christmas break we were all using our Sonos Music Systems to the full and many users were accessing Napster. Due to unprecedented demand Napster was struggling to respond. Sonos and Napster are working to resolve the issue before the next big holiday.

Spotify User: The Spotify Service came out for Sonos in October and we have been using it. There have been some ups and downs in use. Positives: Quality is 320kbps and is very fast to search. You can keep the music 'offline' on your iPhone or iTouch as it auto syncs should you want it to. Negatives: Besides some initial service issues, because demand was under estimated, there is the fact that Spotify doesn't have any Top 100 or Automix like Napster does. This would be a nice feature and we hope it will be added.

New Sonos Dock: This WD100 from Sonos allows the ability to wireless share all your music from your iPhone or iPod to all the Sonos areas in your home. Once you have docked your Apple device it becomes another source along with your library, Napster, Spotify, radio stations and Last FM. Great from when your friends come to visit and want their music playing all over the house.

New Apple App for iPad owners gives even better use ability and great looks.



If you have a Sonos Music System you can now benefit from a free controller on your iPad, this new long awaited App is now available in the App Store. Sonos has made available an app for a while but it only looked good on the iPhone or iTouch this new iPad version is miles better. The large display gives you to view more album information an options all in one place. Some will still prefer the smaller, truly handheld device like the iPhone, though.

New Software update: Sonos V3.1. If you haven't done this yet it is very easy. On the controller go to System Settings and Choose Online Updates. It will check for you and update if you follow the instructions.
